so much to say

Francine is a sweet, wonderful, delightful to be around chatterbox.  “Mama,” she says every few minutes followed by a string of Swahili I can’t even repeat back to her to make a fun game.  It’s extremely frustrating to not understand the girls when they’re upset.  It seems worse to miss all of her stories and questions, to miss her take on everything.  She’s mastered please and thank you and uses them appropriately too.  Now she’s added the sign for more, so she can say, “More please.”  Doesn’t really matter what it is, she’s likely getting more of it since she always says it with a smile.  She can say nose and eye, but sometimes confuses which is which.  She can say I love you and usually adds the Swahili for I love you when she says it.  She seems eager to learn.  She’s reminded us she’s a toddler though and that this isn’t easy for her with a few tantrums.  I also have a pretty good dental record for her on my back.

She loves to sing and dance.  I have some African (Swahili, Ethiopian, Congolese, ….) music we’ve been listening to.  Two of the songs she knew a version of and could sing along with right away.  She calls her sister Yvonne, Vonnie.

I don’t know how I got so lucky!

So sweet! I treasure these posts! I have a feeling dad is really going to be in trouble, I’m guessing the girls won’t even get to, “Can I…..?” for dad (or whomever) will already be there with whatever it is in hand. What a sweet, sweet baby girl. I am beyond excited to see them, hold them, and have them meet little E and PB&J&T. I’m pretty much banking on an end of July trip so I sure hope it works out for you guys. Thanks again for all of the posts.

We love you and think of you throughout the day.

Oh Ashley, you got so “lucky” by being a wonderful human and mother who worked and waited for a year to collect your sweet babies! They are so lucky as well, and despite the difficulties and trauma associated with this all, they have a wonderful new family with all the Farmer clan! I love that you take the time to post all these beautiful pictures and stories 🙂
